Its or it’s

Its and it’s are probably among the most confused words in English. While they appear similar, they are completely different in their meaning. Here is the difference:

Its – this is a possessive pronoun that means the quality of it or belonging to it. For example, “the cat didn’t eat its food.”

It’s – this is a contraction or simply the short form of it is or it has. Instead of staying, “it is raining,” you can say, “It’s raining.”
