Although both the anteater and the aardvark look alike and have the same diet, there are several differences between the two different species of animals. For example, while anteaters belong to the order “Tubulidentata”, aardvarks belong to the “Pilosa” order. This is evidenced in their type of dentition -another difference between both animals. While the teeth of an aardvark are cylindrical and will continue to grow all through its life, an anteater has no teeth.
Another difference between them is that while the anteater has four species and prefers to hunt during the daytime, aardvarks prefer to hunt at night.
